THE GORDONSTOUN STORY
90 years of forming remarkable people.
In 1934, Kurt Hahn founded Gordonstoun on a conviction that has never changed: that young people are capable of far more than the world expects of them.
His motto? Plus Est En Vous. There is more in you.
That conviction produced a school unlike any other. Where academic rigour and outdoor challenge sit alongside each other as equals. Where service to the community is not optional. Where the person you become matters as much as the grades you achieve.
Gordonstoun educated three generations of the British Royal Family, pioneered the Duke of Edinburgh's Award, and founded the Outward Bound movement. It has welcomed students and summer programme participants from across the Gulf for decades, including members of the UAE’s ruling families. Its alumni are leaders, explorers, artists, public servants and entrepreneurs: people who found, at school, that there was more in them than they knew.
Gordonstoun Jubail Island is not Gordonstoun transplanted. It is Gordonstoun reimagined for the UAE: for our landscape, our community and for the families who will make it their school.
It is a school where Emirati heritage and Gordonstoun character education meet as equals. The desert, the sea and the traditions of Al-Sana'a (resourcefulness, hospitality, courage, kinship) sit alongside the Hahnian values that have shaped generations of remarkable people across the world. Neither tradition diminishes the other. Together they create something new.
Academic excellence is uncompromised. GCSEs and A Levels prepare students for the world's best universities. But the graduates of Gordonstoun Jubail Island will carry something beyond qualifications: the certainty that they know who they are, and the confidence to work with others to build a better community.
